4 BC Local Beverages to Enjoy this Summer

4 BC Local Beverages to Enjoy this Summer

If there’s one thing I’m an advocate of, it’s shopping local. When we support local business, it helps to strengthen our own economy. We’re supporting small businesses which, in turn, pump money back into the local economy, and hire locally, too. I just like the idea of my hard-earned money going towards a small business, rather than making some billionaire even more billion-y.

That said, it’s summertime, and you’re probably going to be:

  • hosting a BBQ
  • going to a BBQ
  • having a picnic
  • going camping
  • sitting on a sunny patio

or maybe you’ll be doing all of these things!

These situations require a fine beverage. Maybe you’re bringing it as a host/hostess gift, or it’s just your contribution to the meal. Or maybe you’re putting it out to go along with whatever you’re serving off of the BBQ. Either way, here are 4 BC Local Beverages to Enjoy this Summer.

4 BC Local Beverages to Enjoy this Summer

  1. A local Okanagan wine. Sure, there are lots to choose from, but there are a couple I really love, especially in summer. First, a rosé. I mean, is there anything that screams “summer” more than a rosé?? Yes, maybe one thing, and that is a sauv blanc. Here are a couple of my local faves: Blasted Church Grancache Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc.

2. Pink Lemonade: first of all, it’s pink. Second of all, it’s super citrusy and refreshing, perfect for a hot day. This fresh one from Chaser’s is so good!

3. Nonny non alcoholic beer. I’m not drinking as much these days, but when you’re craving the refreshment of a beer on a hot day but maybe not the alcohol, Nonny is a great choice. They have a bunch of different flavours, as well, like a Pilsner, an IPA or a Pale Ale. I like to make a radler with mine by mixing it with a bit of grapefruit juice. So refreshing!!

4. Kombucha. Another non alcholic option, kombucha is fermented, just like wine and beer, so it gives you that same feeling, but without the booze. It’s also really good for your gut health. I have tried many kinds of kombucha and Tofino’s is my favourite. The raspberry is especially good.

There you have it! 4 local sips to get you through the summer!
