The Juice Cleanse: Day 2
Well, I’m still feeling lousy.
I don’t think all of it can be attributed to the detox, though. Through a series of circumstances, I had a lousy night’s sleep–just 5 hours, and it was an exceptionally busy day.
I know I’m going to feel worse before I feel better, and I’m hoping this is the worst of it.
Today I started having some pretty wicked cravings, as well. Mostly for carbs… Oooohhh… I do love my carbs. Crackers. And peanut butter sandwiches. Bagels. I also had some cravings for meat, which is strange for me, because I don’t really eat meat.
I’ve added a protein supplement to my morning smoothie–vegan of course–because clearly my body is craving it. And I find that drinking water really helps with the foggy feeling.
I am having lots of fun mucking about with the juicer and creating different types of combos.
I’ve started experimenting with green juices. We all know how great greens are for you: packed with antioxidants, full of vitamins, kale, spinach, even herbs like parsley and cilantro are great additions to your juice.
And the colour!

Here’s the recipe for the juice pictured above. I love fresh pineapple, and juicing it is kinda fun, because you don’t waste as much as when you eat it whole. You have to cut off the tough outer skin. While juicing, though, you just have to slice it and then cut it so it fits into the hopper. Also, pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain, which is super good for you.
- 1-2 rounds of pineapple
- 1 cup spinach
- 1/3 cup parsley
Juice it up, and drink it down!
