Just around the corner from my hotel in Chicago, there were 3 cafes in a row: one was The Goddess and the Baker, where I spent probably a little too much time, and one was called The Protein Bar, a chain that runs through Chicago, Denver and Washington, DC.
They serve up healthy options; smoothies, salads, wraps.
My friend Sandy Abrams, a fellow yogi, suggested I try their avocado matcha smoothie, and hoo boy was she right! It was so tasty.
And super healthy. Avocados, as we all know, are packed with good fats. Matcha is full of antioxidants and it gives you energy, as well. This is a great way to start your day. It’s smooth and creamy and filling.
Avocado Matcha Smoothie
- 1 avocado (ripe)
- 1 small banana
- 1 tbsp matcha powder
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract and/or vanilla protein powder (I use Vega, it’s vegan)
- 4 ice cubes
- coconut water
in your blender, place all the ingredients except for the coconut water. Pour coconut water over all the ingredients, until they are all submerged. Blend well. Add more coconut water if it’s too thick until you get it to your desired consistency.
